Each rank unlocks different things. Most notable are Felony and Organized crimes. Rank means much more than that though - it is really a milestone for your achievements and experience within the game. You will start out as a Citizen and have to move your way up through these ranks throughout your career.
Requirements
Petty Thief
Achieved after doing a few crimes.
Thug
12 hours old, or upon joining a family - There are no experience requirements for this rank.
Gangster
You will reach gangster when you are 1 day old. There are no experience requirements for this rank.
Goomba
Two days old, and 10 Units.
Earner
Five days old, and 15 Units.
Wise Guy
Eight days old, and 20 Units.
Made Man
Eleven days old, and 25 Units.
Capo
Fourteen days old, and 30 Units.
Boss
Seventeen days old, and 35 Units.
Consigliere
Twenty days old, and 40 Units.
Don
Forty days old, and 45 Units.
Godfather
120 days old, and a minimum of 30 Family Members.
Made Man and Beyond
In order to 'Get Made' or rank up to Made Man or higher - you need your crew leader to promote you. Often times Crewleaders have specific ranking conditions. It's important to remember that in order to get anywhere you need to prove yourself and become a valued member of your crew and the game - especially if you plan on ranking up to these higher levels.
